FREE San Francisco New Years Eve 2008 Fireworks Show (Embarcadero)Ring in 2009 with 200,000 fellow bundled-up San Franciscans for a waterfront fireworks tradition Every year the city of San Francisco hosts a free alcohol-free New Years Eve celebration for 200,000 people on The Embarcadero near Mission street for a spectacular midnight fireworks display on the waterfront. 11:59 To ring in 2009, a 20-minute fireworks show will launch from barges located 1,000 feet out in the bay just south of the Ferry Building near Pier 14 at Mission Street and The Embarcadero . Although the fireworks set off near Pier 14 and the Ferry Building, the city says the best viewing is Crissy Field, Aquatic Park, the Embarcadero, Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39. |

Jazz musicians pay tribute to Henry Irvin who passed away shortly after Thanksgiving
Playing guitar, piano or the Hammond B3, Henry Irvin played the Bay Area clubs since the 1960's. He enjoyed playing his blue guitar with his friends at Bird and Beckett for many years and will be sorely missed by all of them as well as his many fans.
